LOW NUMBER OF FOREIGN TOURISTS TO VISIT JAPAN

The National Tourism Organization of Japan announced that the number of foreign tourists who arrived at the Japanese archipelago has experienced a decline for the first time in the last 36 months.

According to official figures that entity, in August visited the country a total of 742 thousand 100 tourists, representing a fall of 2% over the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Similarly, attribute the drop to rising international fuel prices that led to an increase in the cost of airfares. In relation to the nationalities of the visitors, a total of 248 thousand 100 were South Korea (down 8.6%), followed by 54 thousand 100 in Hong Kong (increase of 32.7%) followed by other Asian, European and United States.

The agency also revealed the results of a study related to the habits of foreign tourists on average spend stressing that 118 thousand yen, which added to the cost of airfare and stay in hotels over 242 thousand yen.

In the same vein, a 4659 survey carried out allowing people to know that Indians are citizens who spend more money with an average of 175 thousand yen per person, followed by France with 157 thousand yen and the U.S. with 150 thousand yen.

The National Organization of Tourism, Japan last August revealed that a total of 1 million 516 thousand Japanese traveled abroad, representing a fall of 10.1% compared to the same month in 2007. Also becomes the sixteenth consecutive month in which it reduces the number of Japanese travelers to international destinations.
